We are all told that realism means life as it is while idealism is life as it should be. In my opinion, however, the mere thinking of a certain ideal is one realistic approach to life. I have never made a distinction between realism and idealism, believing that life is about the ideas we have in our mind and about having the power to turn these into something we can see and appreciate.
The other day I saw the movie Cinema Paradiso. I was impressed by how life can manifest itself within the walls of a movie theater, to which people go with the intent of living their ideals. The act of being within this movie theater and of being moved by what is shown on the screen is a reality that remains with the audience for ever.
We make and break; we keep and change; and we create reality out of the womb of our own ideas.
Your dream is your reality, and the dreams of all other people combined are life.
Your dream (I mean your reality) is but one distinct piece in a large mosaic. If you don’t have the real mirror (soul), you will just think that your color is the same as all other pieces.
